Please be aware that a swissy is not the perfect dog for every one. There are some health problems in this breed. Epilepsy, Cancer, Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, OCD and Bloat. Please go to our national club website Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America and read about the health issues in the breed. Before looking for breeders, you should also read our club's Breeders Guidelines to better learn how responsible breeders are working towards improving the health of our breed. When you are ready to look for a puppy, please go to our national club's Breeder's Directory to see breeders that are in good standing with our national club, The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America. Our national club does not police breeders. Please check into any breeder that you choose.
Please be aware that not all breeders are breeding for the betterment of the breed. Some breeders will not refund deposits. Some breeders do not test hips, elbows, shoulders, eyes with OFA in an effort to reduce these orthopedic problems in the breed. Some breeders knowingly breed dogs that have Epilepsy.
