After twenty three years of showing standard sized Shar-Pei, Westminster winners, Best in Show dogs, Mike is now working as Head Trainer at PetSmart and loves it, which leaves me to work with my favorite subject-the genetics of Shar-Pei.

We already have three colors that we have created, Apricot Isabella, Rose Isabella, and Champagne.

Now I am working on bringing the size down. We are not buying dogs from across the country who are small or came from small parents, we are developing our own line scientifically. We have always weighed every puppy on a gram scale twice a day, but the purpose was to pick up on a puppy who was not gaining or had hit a plateau and needed to be supplemented.

Now I am charting the weights and can tell fairly closely how large or small a puppy will be by the weight charts. The ones we sell as small have never been supplemented, they gain continuosly, but just at a slower rate than the others.

A standard Shar-Pei averages one pound per week that he/she is old. We have nine week old puppies running around the house that weigh three pounds!!

We do have all colors, but right now, all of my puppies but one litter are in the blue/lilac/Champagne lines. The other litter is mahogany red, three girls.
