January 2014- The "white-faced" photo was taken 11/26/2011 and the other was taken in 2007. Amy still "rips into high gear", races around, and makes lots of growly noises during play- just like she did as a young dog. She also does a kind of "wailing", rather than barking, which is why we think she's a Husky mix or other northern breed. ?? She is completey crate-trained, and in fact was housetrained before she came to Friends for Life years ago. She gets along well with other dogs, and cats, too. Because of her age and special needs (she has severe skin allergies), Amy is also available as a Sponsor Dog. We weaned her over to a special grain-free diet the summer of 2012 to see if that would help her skin long-term since food allergies- especially allergies to grains- can cause skin (and ear) problems. She started looking better within a few months and looks better now than she has since she was a "young thang"! Grain-free dry food in our area costs $48 for a 30# bag (we're been able to get it on sale at Tractor Supply sometimes for $42 and $45). Please see our Home Page (Sponsor Program) if you are interested in becoming a Sponsor for Amy and help with the cost of her special diet. Thank you!
