Meet Captain! He is a great dog and if you're looking for a long-term, loyal companion then you have found your man. He follows his foster everywhere and is the best snuggler ever. He is house and crate trained, knows sit and lay down, and is smart enough to learn just about anything. Captain is a mix breed, a Cairn Terrier and a Lhasa Apso, and is full grown at about 25 pounds. Captain is neutered, up to date on all his shots and microchipped. Captain is great on a leash, gets along with cats and other dogs, and is good with people. Captain shouldn't be in a home with small children because he does not like getting his face played with and poked at. He has never bitten anyone but has a tendency to snip if he is uncomfortable with something around his face (scissors) if he connects he doesnt actually apply pressure, but its always good to be on the safe side, especially when children are involved! His foster parents are Marc & Jon.The adoption fee for is $175.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Captain. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption formAll Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day.It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. The Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offers a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs.
