Hello, my name is Linus! I'm a good dog looking for a good home. I used to have a home, but it failed me. I'm not sure why, because I'm a good dog! Life here at the shelter is OK, but I really enjoy it when volunteers take me out for walks and play with me. I LOVE the attention I get from them! I especially like one of the volunteers that I call 'Foster Mom'. She occasionally takes me home with her so can show off my good dog skills in a home environment. Some of those skills include sitting, lying down, and shaking when asked to do so via commands 'sit, 'down', and 'shake'. I can even follow more advanced commands such as 'stay' and 'come'. Yep, I'm a good and smart dog! I'm a pretty laid back and mellow dog in the home environment. I don't run around like crazy, unlike some of the puppies here at the shelter. I also don't chew on things I shouldn't, also unlike some of the puppies here. And, I don't have 'accidents' in the home, some of the puppies definitely still need practice with that one! I do occasionally enjoy a game of fetch with a ball, but I'm not ball-obsessed like some other retrievers I know that don't know when enough is enough. I also enjoy going for car rides and walks. Foster Mom thinks I need more practice so that I don't pull on the leash. Personally, I just think she needs to walk faster. One of my absolute favorite things to do is to cuddle up next to a human friend and have my belly rubbed. I am willing to play that game forever! As a bonus, if you let me sleep in bed with you, I will gladly keep you warm all night because I love to snuggle. Please realize though, that if you dislike having dog hair all over your clothes, I just may not be the dog for you. Like most dogs, I shed. I get along well with other dogs, but cats are still questionable. They do look like they would be fun to chase! I am a little leery of meeting new people, and have a tendency to bark at visitors when they first come into the home. It takes me a minute to decide if they are friend or foe. Once I realize they are friend, I am more than willing to offer a snuggle or the opportunity to rub my belly. If you think you can provide a good dog like me a good home, please contact the staff at the shelter and they can make arrangements for you to meet me.
