Bowie is a young male mixed breed dog. We estimate that he is around a year old, maybe a little younger. We aren't sure what his mix is, but he has a lot of behaviors that remind us of golden retrievers and a look that reminds us of Australian shepherds. Bowie is around 47 pounds, but will still probably fill out a little more as he matures.

Bowie is very sweet and loves attention. He is an energetic boy, though, and needs a chance to run and burn off some of that young dog energy every day, or he could channel that energy is less desirable ways. Bowie gets along well with other friendly dogs and loves to play wrestling games with them. He has learned to read dog body language well and will steer clear of a dog that he knows isn't interested in playing with him. Bowie also really loves to chase any toys - ball, Frisbees, you-name-it. He has not quite gotten the concept of bringing the toy back to be thrown again. He usually will do several "drive-by's" with the toy before he'll let us have it. Once we put our hand on the toy, though, he immediately drops and and get's ready for another throw.

Bowie knows some basic commands and has had a little bit of clicker training, but would probably benefit from a basic obedience class with his new person. His house manners are coming along, but he needs some help with his desire to counter surf. His toy drive is really high and he is very eager to learn, so I think he could be a really great dog with a little time and effort on the part of his person. Bowie would probably do best in a home with an active person or persons and would probably also love to have the company of another dog-friendly dog. He would not do well in a home with cats or other small animals. He would probably also not do well in a home with small children. Though Bowie is very friendly with people, he's a bit rough with his play and could easily, accidentally knock over a small child.

Bowie is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and is on monthly heartworm preventative. He will be microchipped before going to his new home.
