Additional information
Dahy (dah-hee) is an irish name meaning "swiftness or nimbleness". Dahy is a very athletic 1 year old male Border Collie. Dahy is a slim, sleek guy; he will probably weigh around 30 pounds after he puts on a little weight. Dahy has tons of ball drive and lots of energy. He will need a home who can keep him busy! Dahy visited the vet yesterday and she confirmed that his hips or knees seem to be comformationally poor. (notice how his rear hunches while standing in the photo above) Dahy is completely unaffected by his poor conformation right now, but if may effect him in the future (we are not certain on how near of a future that is at this point). Dahy is on joint supplements which cost about $10-15 a month. Because Dahy is so energetic, he would do best in a home with older children (he might accidentally knock a smaller child over). Dahy gets along great with other dogs, both male and female and loves to play with them! His favorite game is playing "tug the rope toy" with his "foster brother"! He will stand up for himself, but is not overly dominant with other dogs. Dahy knows sit, stay (for a short period) and come. He L-O-V-E-S to play ball and isn't too bad about bringing it back, with training he will be great. Dahy pulls on leash, so he will need some continued training (good for any young dog!). He is food motivated and appears to be pretty intellegent, so he should learn quickly. Right now, we have to be careful about how much Dahy uses his hips. He can't do any jumping, shouldn't be walked or ran on concrete or other hard flooring. We do not know the full extent of his hip problems yet, but he will be X-rayed soon and we will decide where to go with his treatment from there. Dahy will be a great dog for an active person or family, who have plenty of tennis balls and will keep him busy! Dahy's ready to go play ball now! A completed adoption application must be submitted to NBCR before you can be considered to adopt this dog. There is also a $180 adoption fee The application can be downloaded from our website www.nebraskabordercollierescue.com or email karenbattreall @cox.net and ask for an application
