This sweet girl was tossed out only days before she gave birth to 6 sweet puppies. Luckily for her, she was picked up by someone who patrols that area because she knows it is a popular drop-off spot for animals. Lena gave birth to her babies in a warm puppy pen. Her babies have all been adopted and are young adults now but poor Lena is still with us. She was also HW positive but has been treated and needs her home now. She is the smartest dog we have ever rescued and is so eager to learn. She has taught herself to open two different types of gates while at her foster house. She can also climb a 4 foot chain link fence with no problem. She is house trained, loves to ride in the car, gets along great with kids, dogs of all sizes, and cats. She had been accepted into a prison program but they refused to admit her once they saw her in person. They said she looked too Pitty. She is not a Pit however. This is a very common breed in SE KY where she was found. Please dont hold her looks against her. She is the best dog, so smart, quiet, and well-behaved. Her ideal home would be indoors, with a family ( children would be a plus!) and a fenced in yard for playtime outside. Lena has been fully vetted (spayed, HW treated, vaccinated, microchipped, etc.) and is so anxious to meet her new family. We will only adopt out locally for this dog.
