A REAL SWEETHEART! TAKE HER FOR A WALK!
AUG 14, 2012:
Raven recently spent the day at our adoption event at Keswick Vineyard's Yappy Hour, and she was the perfect dog. She walked well on the leash, greeted every dog and every person with a happy wag of her tail.
Raven is such a pretty, wonderful dog...unfortunately she just does not show well at the shelter. All the dogs are bigger than she is and when they all get to barking, it makes her a little nervous.......and then she becomes a jumper.
All of our dog walkers will tell you, once she leaves the gate at the shelter and heads down our road for a walk, she calms right down and is such a joy to be with. She loves walks and if given the opportunity, I bet she would love to be someones jogging partner.
Raven has had lots of roommates, that have been adopted and are now living in their forever homes. She has gotten along with every roommate she has been paired with. Poor Raven, always the roommate, never the adopted.
Please check out our upcoming events calendar for the next adoption event...........Raven will be there for sure and you can spend the day with her and see what a wonderful companion she reallyis.
JULY 6, 2012:
Raven was chosen to represent Almost Home at the 4th of July Celebration at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia. Here are some comments from her handler on that day...'Who knew that Raven, the outgoing girl at the shelter, would be shy when she first got to Wintergreen? She soon learned that it was a great place to be with lots of dog friendly people to spend time with. Though she wasn't quite ready to walk through the crowds by the vendors she did very much enjoy hanging out with her roommate, Bailey, on the hillside where the dogs lovers congregated. Raven had no issues with any of the dogs she met, even the grumpy ones ;) She definitely shows better in a calmer environment than the shelter, so please visit Raven and take her out for a nice walk, away from the other dogs, so you can meet the real sweetheart that she is.'
DEC 1, 2011:
Raven was found one morning tied to the leg of the picnic table on the porch of the Almost Home Shelter. She was sitting there waiting patiently for someone to come in and find her. She's about 2 years old.She is extremely affectionate and has the most beautiful eyes..... She can be a bit protective of her toys, but not her food.
She gets along well with her roomate.
