MORE OF A PERSON DOG!
JAN 30, 2012:Eugenia is a great dog to take on adventures: she loads easily into a cratein the car, rides really well in the car and waited patientlyfor me while I took pictures and left her crated in the car on our way to Crabtree Falls. She walks well on a leash andset a nice brisk pace forthe 6 mile hike - I had hoped to bring her back tired but that just wasn notgoing to happen! I'm not sure if she is a swimmer but she certainly enjoyed wading in the stream above the falls. She really enjoyed meeting all of the people who stopped to pet her and ignoredthe dogs we passed (though she was probably distracted by the treats in my hand). She was well behaved and friendly whenwe met with anice lab mixJAN 5, 2012:Eugenia was lucky to picked up by animal control or she might have been killed on the highway she was found on. Her luck held because after her time ran out and no one had claimed her, Almost Home did. Now she has been with us for about 3 months and has shown appreciation by her willingness to do what we've asked of her--live at a boarding kennel until we had room, adapt to spending the night in a big wire crate, follow where we led with a leash, and always with her special kind of calm and grace.Eugenia is about 2 1/2 to 3 years old. She's been spayed and weighs in at about 55 pounds. She gets along with most dogs. Actually she is more a person dog. And, she has no liking for cats in general. With proper and carefully handling though she may come around to certain specific animals. She is so smart and willing to please. Her looks will make folks stop and stare. The pictures cannot do justice to her red and white dappled fur or her statuesque style.
