Just Call Me Cappy
Hey There Mates! My name is Captain Scrappy, but you can call me Cappy. I am a lost Captain without a ship of my own. I was an owner surrender to a shelter because my mates could longer afford to keep me. They also neglected me to the point where I had lost most of my hair due to flea bites and skin problems. I also have low thyroid hormone levels but I take medication everyday now and feel much better. The shelter where I was tried to give me care, but thank goodness they turned me over to CRUSA for tender loving care and to help me find a permanent ship to call my own
I Love Chasing Squirrels
Don't get me wrong the ship I am in now is wonderful, but I would be much happier to have a ship of my very own. I love to chase and bark at the squirrels and rabbits that seem to run around all over the place here. If I could just catch one!
More Hair Everyday
I do not have all the hair a Cairn should have but it is growing back. My foster mom gives me a bath every week to keep me clean and get my skin in good condition and I am well on my way to becoming Handsome Cappy. I tolerate my baths well but I do not love them. Just because my name is Captain Scrappy doesn't mean I love to swim.
Foster Mom Talks About Cappy
Cappy...What can I say about him? He reminds me of an old sailor. He also looks like a little Chinese Crested wanna-be and pulls it off quite well I should say. I call him my little sailor because he just has that rugged look about him and those deep dark eyes could probably tell you some very sad tales.
A Little Short of Thyroid Hormone and Hair
He is a happy little guy even with his low thyroid condition, which also could be the reason for the hair loss. Slowly his hair is growing back and with time the Vet says he should have a full body of hair. Just time and patience will see. Cappy is on medication for his thyroid. His thyroid condition should have been detected several years ago but due to neglect it was not. Cappy is on a special diet now for his skin and hopefully that will also help speed up his hair grow
Never Cry 'UNCLE'
Cappy has had a hard little life, but he is a fighter and doesn't give up easily. He just wants to be loved and taken care of by someone who appreciates his good looks and great personality.
Cappy Is Special In Many Ways
Cappy is a special needs little fellow, because he will be on the thyroid medication for the rest of his life. He will also probably need to stay on special foods for his allergies. But, all in all, is he is basically a healthy dog. He has a great appetite and is very food oriented.
Please Throw Cappy a Life Jacket
If you are looking to rescue a very special little fellow to be a part of your ship, or just want to donate to Cappy's care, please contact CairnRescueUSA.com. He deserves and has waited too long for a Forever Home. So jump on board and throw this little sailor a life jacket to a smooth sailing ship of love called home.
Like all CRUSA dogs, Cappy is up-to-date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, has tested negative for heartworm disease, micro-chipped and is on a monthly heartworm preventative.
