Sadie is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier- this picture doesn't do her justice. She istruly gorgeous. She is so incredibly sweet and loving with the staff at The Backyard Pack that she even has her own song called Sadie-Lady that the staff sings every time they see her. And she definitely loves it because her beautiful green eyes light up and she immediately goes into a sit position waiting for some special love and attention. Sadie is extremely submissive/responsive to people and needs a stern/firm owner that has experience with a confident sassy bully girl. She is great with women, but Sadie is all lady and needs a male owner to be her main squeeze.
Sadie originally came into training for dog aggression, but she has now been socialized with up to 15 dogs a day and has had no issues sharing space, toys, water bowls, and sleeping areas. Sadie is definitely a guy's gal as she seems to have made all the male dogs - aggressive and non-aggressive - smitten with her beautiful face! We've had no aggression issues with her and any male dogs, even our extremely dominant males so we think she'd be fine adopted into a home with a male dog, providing there is a strong male pack leader in the home. Sadie's no pushover - this girl's got moxie! Now, Sadie is definitely one lady and she expects the other girls to treat as such. Sadie's beautiful face can sometimes make the other girls in the pack a little jealous so she will need to be kept monitored when socializing with small groups of dogs that have dominant females . A stern 'leave it' or a loud 'enough' and you pretty much have her attention and can stop any inappropriate behavior she may feel herself being drawn to.Sadie does everything with passion - she loves passionately, lives passionately, and definitely plays passionately. If you've had a bully breed before you know they have their own special way of playing. Sadie can get a little passionate during play time and can easily escalate play to a level that is too intense for other dogs. She will need to be watched during play sessions and should be made to reset her energy when she starts getting too intense in her play style. A little bit of proactive training and teaching her how not to give into her whims will help keep this girl well-behaved and playing nicely with all dogs.Sadie loves going on walks, loves munching on her raw hide bones, and doesn't even mind a bath and nail trimming here and there. Whatever it takes to keep this girl beautiful and healthy so she can keep hearing from everyone she meets what a beautiful girl she is. Sadie has a moderate energy level and is capable of playing with human companions or with other dogs; she is not considered an anxious dog and doesn't display any separation anxiety issues. She is crate-trained and would do fine being left along during the day with a working owner/family.
