I am a very special lady - I am Duchess! Most dogs are brown, black or white... but not me. I'm a GOLDEN/REDHEAD with little white fur 'slippers' on my feet, a white chest, my face lightened up with white highlights and a white-tipped tail. I am not too big and not too small....I'm just the right size for a hound mix and I have those wonderful long HOUND ears! I told you I was special! The nice people at the Humane Society have taken such good care of me. I just kind of wandered into their yard.... you see, I was on my own and I had no place to go. That's pretty scary not to know if you will have a warm, safe, dry place to sleep, if anyone will feed you or give you water. But now I am safe and my tummy is full of good food and cookies. I've been to the vet, had all of my shots and I am healthy! And the vet thinks that maybe I was born in 2008 - so I am just the right age for my new home. No one had ever taken me for walks before or taught me how to walk on a leash. Actually, they didn't pay much attention to me. Now, every week I practice very hard with the volunteers so that I will be ready to walk nicely on a leash with my new family.... they say I am a fast learner and know that, by the time you come to take me to my forever home, I'll be the best walker around!!!! You will be so proud of me. The volunteers say I am a VERY sweet little girl.... I get along with everyone and I like other dogs, too. I also LOVE the water, we have a kiddie pool here and I love to romp around in it. I also am very well-behaved inside, they have brought me into the office here and I LOVED it! You see, I am just so happy to be with people who will take care of me. This is all new to me ..... and I am so grateful. I dream every night of my new home and of being loved and spoiled. I will be the perfect fur friend! I am waiting patiently for you to come and take me to my new forever family and home. Look for the cute little redhead!
