Leona is a very unique dog! If you saw a photo of only her tan face with black mask, you might mistake her for a Doberman. Seeing just her slim body and long, slender legs, she looks like a Rat Terrier. Her head, with those big ears, certainly brings "chihuahua" to mind. We believe that among the many dogs living in junk cars and rescued from a hoarder, we found an exotic and greatly treasured "RATCHI-PIN." Never heard of one? We hadn't either! Ratchi-Pins are an extremely rare breed! Leona looks pretty sneaky! Like most dogs who have spent their lives in cages, with their only human contact being in the form of physical abuse, Leona is shy and cautious, often even cowering at first. Once she trusts that she is in safe, loving hands, she is a real sweetheart! Having been denied it, she craves attention! She loves to give kisses. Leona is an exceptionally intelligent dog. She quickly learned to "sit," and will also sit back on her haunches to beg for a treat! Toys are a prized possession, and she is quick to collect them all and hide them under a blanket. Leona also knows, "Time for bed," and will actually stand up for you to put on her sweater! As a quick learner who stays very focused on her "person" and is so fast and agile, she would be an excellent companion for someone who enjoys a nice walk or jog. It has been thrilling to watch her develop into a strong, courageous, and playful young dog! Leona has worked very hard and is ready to find her own forever home. She will be a wonderful addition to a family who can offer the love and attention she deserves, and promises to return the same - tenfold!
