Our family raises Portuguese Water Dogs. We are committed to further advancing the breed by raising healthy pure bred puppies, and finding loving and compatible homes for our puppies. In spite of our name, Mohawk Kennel, we are anything but a dog "kennel." Our dogs live in a loving family home, and are as much as members of our family as our children.



Lucy was bred on September twenty-ninth; therefore, we anticipate the puppies will be born over Thanksgiving weekend (around November twenty-sixth). The puppies will be available for adoption at eight-weeks old, which should be the second or third week of January.



Lucy, registered name: Prestige Delightful Lady Diane, is a black and white curly; the Sire, Timber Oaks Pride of the Parti is also a black and white curly, so we expect the entire litter to be black and white curly.



The sire was awarded a Champion Certificate by the American Kennel Club , and has won numerous other show titles, including Best of Breed by the Midland Michigan Kennel Club. Lucy has not acquired any show points yet, however, she also comes from Champion bloodlines; therefore, we anticipate the puppies will be show quality.



Prior to breeding, and in compliance with the regulations set forth by the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America: Lucy received a clean hip screening for dysplasia (rated "Good") by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals; She was tested for PRA, and was found to be non-affected carrier; She was tested by a canine ophthalmologist, who found no inherited eye disease, and is current in her CERF registration; She was tested for Canine GMI, and found to be "Normal"; And, she was tested for JDCM, and found to be "Probable Normal."



We insured she was bred with a stud who underwent the appropriate tests and received favorable results (the sire had identical test results, except that he is not a carrier of PRA).



Each puppy, when available for adoption, will have been dewormed, had their first set of shots, and had a full medical examination by a Veterinarian. We offer each puppy adoptor a written health guarantee with each of our puppy, and, we offer life-long support for all of our puppies and their new families.
